Bay Area high rent makes local restaurant owner find unique way to keep her employees

The rising cost of rent in the Bay Area has caused at least one restaurant owner to look at unique ways to offer affordable housing for her employees. Zareen Khan, owner of Zareen’s Restaurant offers four of her key full-time employees bellow-market rent in a home she owns in East Menlo Park.

Like many parts of the country, California has a rich tradition of high school sports. From powerhouse football programs like Mater Dei and De La Salle, to the number one basketball team in the nation for most of season in the Archbishop Mitty girls basketball team, there was no shortage of high energy play in the prep ranks this past season.

Shakima Wimbley is one of the most decorated members of the University of Miami track team. She recently closed her college career with a second place finish in the 400-meter finals at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Wimbley won the 400 at the NCAA’s indoor championships earlier this year.
