Tim Tran, a pastor at Seven Trees Baptist Church in San Jose, Calif. was one of the millions of people who fled Vietnam following the fall of Saigon in 1975. Tran would live five years in the communist run country before leaving in 1980. Tran, 16 at the time, left Vietnam by boat and would spend 13 days at sea before arriving in the Philippines.
